Anderson Associates are experienced chartered surveyors who are operate in the rural county of Suffolk.
We offer a full range of building surveys, whether you are interested in buying a home in one of the county’s many attractive market towns like Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds or Woodbridge, in the county town of Ipswich, or in one of its picturesque resorts such as Southwold and Aldeburgh.
The county of Suffolk dates back to the 5th century and agriculture, in the form or either arable or mixed farming, has always been a major employer. Service and manufacturing industries are becoming increasingly important. Much of the latter is food-and-drink based; Greene King beer and Branston Pickle are both made in Bury St Edmunds, Adnams is brewed in Southwold, and Huntley and Palmers biscuits are manufactured in Sudbury.
Other major employers include the port of Felixstowe, which is the biggest container port in the UK, and BT, whose main research and development base is at Martlesham Heath, just outside Ipswich. Both have workforces in excess of 3,000 people.
Although the county didn’t suffer as much from wartime bombing, a lot of housing developments were built after 1945. These included the so-called GLC overspill estates in Haverhill, Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, which were aimed at restricting the spread of London. However, many people still commute to the capital for work.
As well as more modern properties, Suffolk also has plenty of more traditional homes, including thatched and timber-framed cottages. Barn conversions are also common as redundant agricultural buildings are often put to residential use.
Anderson Associates can help with all types of building survey, whatever type of property you are interested in purchasing. We can provide home buyer reports on a wide range of properties in Suffolk, including barn conversions, period flats, commercial buildings and more.
